My little Stinker

Hey all
Ellie and I survived the snow storm- barely since I slipped and fell- HARD on the ice yesterday because I am an idiot that attempted to wear heals in the snow- shows how much this southern girl understands about ice. Luckily Ellie was in her car seat and well protected but I still was afraid she had suffered internal bleeding worrying myself sick but she seems to be fine-phew. I on the other hand can not bend my left knee as it is so swollen from the impact- ridiculous.

Mike gets home in 5 days- woo hoo. Ellie and I are super excited and so is Brimley as he has gotten even less attention with mike being gone but mommy can only do so much. Below are some fun shots of Ellie. I have decided she is going to be devious because she already manipulates me- she will start whining and as soon as I respond she gives me this huge grin like mommy you know I am so cute and you will do whatever I want- which is true but worrys me that my 6 month old already knows this fact. Plus, my sitter has informed me that Ellie kicks the other kids that come to play with her and just laughs about it. What a stinker. She is laughing more and more and I can not wait for daddy to get home and share in the fun!

Mommy you know I am so cute!!!
Green Beans are so yummy- especially when I get them up my nose.

Adorable- and sneaky! She has both her parents wrapped around her finger.

What a happy baby! You just want to squeeze those cheeks.

Daddy misses all the fun!

Boy was I wrong when I thought the ice storm would be the excitement this week! We have been slowly introducing vegetables and rice cereal to Ellie and unfortunately for her it seems she has mommy's stomach because she seems to react to everything- as a newborn she had horrible gas and now she seems to be constipated- oh the fun things babies bring. So today I did not have to do go to work because of the ice storm I mentioned yesterday but I did still have to venture out into the sleet and snow in order to get Ellie a suppository!!! Of course the first two stores did not have it and I really thought I was going to break down crying to the Walgreens clerk. But I held it together and ventured on to CVS to find what I was looking for. It is amazing how less embarrassed you become about things once you have a baby- prior to ELlie I never would have left the house in the state I left today and asking a pharmacist about a suppository and how it works would have been out of the question- but I had absolutely no qualms about it today. So after our snow adventure I got home and administered the treatment- who knew such a foul thing could come out of our precious little angel- and believe me it was foul and ALOT- poor thing was backed up.- lets just say she lived up to her nickname "poopy pants piedmont" today.
Otto/Mike is on his dispersal in Seattle and was at the aquarium- I am sure he was so jealous of me- yeah right!!! I had pics to post but in order to stay with the theme of my last two days the battery died so I could not download them. I may sound stressed in this post but I am actually have a good laugh about the whole thing and Ellie is feeling much better so that is all that matters. Fun times in Oklahoma.

Ice Storm Ice Storm go away

Well we have been having a very moderate winter here in Oklahoma but somehow the weather gods have the uncanny ability to sense when otto/mike is gone and send an ice storm. Never fails. We have been here three years and had about 7-10 ice/ snow storms and mike has not been home for one of them. So Ellie and I had a very eventful morning- of course, I noticed there was no dog food left just as the freezing rain is hitting. So I run out to get dog food with baby in tow and come home ready to salt the driveway so that I can still get the car out later when I take Ellie to the dr (more on that later) only to discover that we have no salt- of course. So I feed ellie and run back out to the store for salt- picture it, I am lugging ellie in her car seat while trying to car two 20 pound bags of salt without slipping on the sidewalk- fun times. I decided that since I was already out I should call the dr to see if he had an earlier appointment- and wouldn't you know- he did- yeah something was going to go right. Now you may be wondering why I was taking Ellie to the dr. She has had a cold for weeks now and it only seems to be getting worse so I have convinced myself there must be a greater problem. Because of the impending bad weather I decided I had to get to the dr today so that we would not get trapped in the house just as ellie's sickness got worse. So I lug my snot nosed baby out into the freezing rain only to be told by the dr that she is perfectly healthy except for the cold but unfortunately that just needs to run its course. I felt like such an idiot and over protective mother- I should have known she was fine when the dr was using the stethescope on her and she was grinning from ear to ear at him. I am going completely insane!!!!
We finally got home and are staying put until this weather passes. I am not a fan of ice at ALL and can't wait to salt the driveway tomorrow morning to try and get to work- so sad mike gets to miss all this fun (I am sure you can hear the sarcasm in this message) Hope everyone is having better weather than we are.

Ellie and her new best friend

Ellie, Brimley and I are just counting the days til Otto/Mike gets home- only 10 days to go! Ellie has taken a great interest in Brimley lately and he is such a good sport. She is talking more than ever and making noises/ shrieks that I did not believe were possible from such a little girl. Each day I can see her personality more and more I and I believe she may have a little stubborness/ determined side- I can not imagine where she gets that- must be her father. Last weekend I downloaded WAY too many kids songs on itunes- it totally brought me back to my childhood as I remembered all the songs I used to love as a kid- if you were to randomly show up at our house you would find me making a complete a-- of myself dancing and singing songs- anything to get a smile from my baby girl- if that is not a reason to travel to norman oklahoma I do not know what is. I am not quite sure who enjoys the songs more- me or ellie.

Ellie has proven to be quite the eater now that I am introducing vegetables- so far she loves both her squash and her green beans. She will hit 13 pounds before we know it- ha ha - I am still so shocked by our tiny baby. Bathtime is still her favorite time of day (and mommy's too) she has begun to splash herself and still looks both shocked and happy everytime she gets water in her face. It is just so amazing to see the world through the eyes of our baby and I often wonder what is going on behind those big blue eyes. As you can see, while mike is gone I am often left to my own thoughts to entertain myself- sorry to subject you to amy's deep thoughts.

Below are pics of my two babies- Ellie and Brimley- they are the only reasons I stay sane while Otto is gone and I love them so much (even if brims has been a little more neglected since ellie arrived- luckily he is only a dog and still loves me the same).

Mommy I love this Doggy!!!

He just licked my face- ha ha.

Amazing- this dog is the coolest.

A Day in the Life of Ellie

Hey all
Well Ellie has been having many an exciting time. We have moved on to vegtables - so far we have only tried squash but she LOVED it- she ate it so fast! She was like mom why have you been holding out on me. So I am pretty sure our little petite baby will start to chunk up soon. She has also been rolling over like crazy and has decided that she prefers to sleep on her stomach- one problem is once she gets on her stomach she has trouble rolling back over so I have been awoken several times in the middle of the night when she discovers she is stuck on her belly. I rush is to turn her back over only to discover by the time I return to bed she is back on her belly and sound asleep- I am hoping this is just a phase. Ellie has also learned a new trick which she of course liked to do after mike left for deployment- drum roll please- ellie can now poop in the tub- fun times! She is so cute smiling in a tub full of poop that I can not even get aggravated but again I hope this was a one time event. Mike is gone for 16 nights (i count by nights because this is the time that is the hardest without him) I will try and be better about posting so he can see his little angel while he is on the road. Ellie, Brimely and I are so proud of him for all he does but selfishly we wish he could stay home- hopefully these deployments will be done soon when we switch to our shore tour- until then we will stay strong and just keep our fingers crossed there is no more pooping in the tub.

Mom- why have you not introduced these delicious treats to me before- rice cereal SUCKS!

I love my jumper- even if I am still no where close to touching the ground!

Happy Girl- I just want to eat those cheeks.
All that playing and eating makes for a tired girl- sweet angel.

New Years and Ellie's Baptism

Ok Ok sorry for the delay- we had a very exciting beginnging to 2009. Ellie was baptized and both our families were in town to celebrate. it meant so much to Mike and I that our families would travel so far to be with us for Ellie's big day. We had such a great visit which including playing our new Wii fit- the hula hoop game provided plenty of laughs and I was relieved to have a doctor in the house just in case anyone got to into the competition. We also went snowtubing in Oklahoma City and I am not sure whether the kids or adults enjoyed this activiity more - maw maw betsy went down the slopes 5 times. Finally we had the baptism and Ellie was an absolute angel which I believe was divine intervention. She screamed when the priest poured the water over her head but in her defense she had been sound asleep before this happened. She recovered once the priest held her up to introduce her to the whole congregation. She was so excited about her baptism that at the end of the mass she blessed us all with a huge blowout- classic! It was such a wonderful visit and I am very optimistic about 2009 as it is off to a great start.
I will provide pics to further show how much fun we had- enjoy.

The Godparents and Parents- Ellie is so lucky to have such wonderful role models as her Aunt Jennfier and Uncle Jack

Me and My sisters and Ellie- good looking bunch.

Gramma Reese and Ellie- adorable.

Mike on the Snowtubing- again- I think the adults had more fun than the kids.

Mike and I on our anniversary with Ellie- so many wonderful things have happened in our short three years of marriage- Ellie being the most wonderful of course.

Welcome Family and Friends!

With addition of our precious angel, I figured it was time to start a blog so that everyone could be blessed with updates on her many developments and pictures of our adorable baby. All this plus my witty insights - who could ask for anything more from a blog. Enjoy!
