MAJOR FAIL!

Today I am having to remind myself to forgive- everyone but especially myself.  I had a MAJOR MOMMY FAIL today.  First, work has been crazy so I had a meeting last night until 10 pm so I did not get to tuck my children in, cuddle them, talk to them about their days, etc.  Then this morning was Ellie's birthday blessing at school- and I had to miss it.  Luckily her teacher was nice enough to stand in for me but how much do I suck.  I have never missed any of Ellie's events- all school performances and parties are on my calender, I go to every dance practice, soccer practice, party, etc.; I overcompensate on her snack day to make up for not being the room mother or being able to pick up her up from school.  But today I failed because I had a previously scheduled hearing and I HATE IT.  I am having a little pity party and was hoping Ellie would not notice until I talked to her and she said "i understand why you were not there" and tells my babysitter it is ok because "she knows mommy will be there next year."  I am crying as I write this- yes I work but I never want my children to feel that or feel as if my work comes before them because it does not.  I never want them to feel rejected or neglected and today I did not prevent that from happening.  I failed.  Being a mom is hard, being a work mom sometimes feels like complete insanity.  So today I am have to remind myself to forgive- forgive clients who drive me crazy, bosses who do not understand family conflicts, and mostly myself for not being everything to everyone.

Military Spouses Appreciation Day

This was written by the Chief of Naval Operations and I could not have said it better myself- to all my fellow Military Spouses - YOU ROCK!

AS WE OBSERVE MILITARY SPOUSE APPRECIATION DAY ON 11 MAY
THIS YEAR, WE HONOR THE MILITARY SPOUSES WHO HAVE SELFLESSLY SERVED
ALONGSIDE THEIR ACTIVE-DUTY HUSBANDS AND WIVES.  THEY KEEP OUR
FAMILIES "ON COURSE AND SPEED," AND THEIR SUPPORT ENABLES US TO FOCUS
ON THE MISSION AT HAND - TO BE READY AND TO OPERATE FORWARD AROUND
THE WORLD.  BY THEIR DEVOTION AND STRENGTH, WE REMAIN THE GREATEST NAVY
THIS WORLD HAS EVER KNOWN.

ON MILITARY SPOUSE APPRECIATION DAY, WE ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEMANDS
ON OUR FAMILIES.  THERE IS AN INSCRIPTION ON ONE OF THE 26 BRONZE RELIEF
SCULPTURES AT THE NAVY MEMORIAL IN WASHINGTON, DC THAT ACCURATELY
STATES:  "THE NAVY FAMILY:  THEY WHO WAIT ALSO SERVE."  WE ALL KNOW
THAT WHEN SAILORS GO TO SEA, THE CHALLENGES AT HOME CONTINUE, AND OUR
MILITARY SPOUSES BEAR THE BURDEN EACH DAY IN SUPPORT OF THEIR LOVED
ONES AND IN SERVICE TO THEIR NATION.  WE THANK OUR HUSBANDS AND WIVES
FOR THEIR CONSTANT PATIENCE AND STEADFAST UNDERSTANDING AS THEY OFTEN
FACE THE CHALLENGES AT HOME OR CELEBRATE LIFE EVENTS WITHOUT US.
THOUGH THEY MAY NOT WEAR THE UNIFORM - IT IS THEIR HONOR, COURAGE,
AND COMMITMENT THAT SUSTAINS US.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME ON 11 MAY TO SHOW OUR SPOUSES HOW MUCH WE
APPRECIATE THEM.  THAT SPECIAL DAY SYMBOLIZES THE HONOR AND RESPECT
WE HOLD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FOR OUR SPOUSES AND THE MANY CONTRIBUTIONS
THEY MAKE EACH DAY TO OUR NAVY AND OUR NATION.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR
SERVICE.

Military Child

April is Month of the Military Child. Today's Photo of the Day is an opportunity to recognize the character, strength and sacrifices of America's military children and the role they play in the Armed Forces community. Thank you, military children - our Heroes for the future!

I love my military children!!!

So much fun!

We have been having lots of fun here- spring is in the air and the Piedmonts love it.  I just wish it did not get so hot and it could be like this all summer.  We have had soccer which Ellie continues to thrive at scoring a goal at her second game too!  We also are celebrating Easter for several weeks it seems heading to a couple Easter egg hunts, dying eggs and of course eating candy!  I am just once again so thankful for all we have and hope you enjoy the pics!

Ellie and the Easter Bunny- she really like him- funny story when she saw all the eggs she said- "Mommy the Easter Bunny laid all these eggs- they came out of his tushy!"

Waiting for her eggs to be dyed

Watching his sister and eating cheese puffs- could not be happier

Pink egg because of course pink is her favorite color
 Ready for her first game
She looks so big- I can already picture being at her high school sports awards and showing this picture of when her soccer playing first started!
Feeding the ducks!

Ellie's First Soccer Game- She is a Natural!

video

Ellie had her first soccer game last saturday and she as fantastic scoring the only goal for her team!  Mike was home with tripp because it was nap time which left me in charge of video and cheering- lets just say the video suffered because of it plus the battery died right as ellie scored- sorry.  Hopefully I will be able to get a full video from one of the other parents but until then Mike edited my sub par video into this great video above- Enjoy!

Snow, Valentines and More

I have been pretty bad about taking photos but am trying to get better. we finally had a little snow- I say little because it was not even enough for me to get the day off of work- boo- but at least the kids got to play in it some. Ellie loved it but tripp was a little upset that his car was covered in snow! Once it was cleaned off he seemed to have a good time too. He is a handful!

Ellie had a valentines day party at her school- we just love her preschool and are so excited she will be going 4 days next year! She is getting big way too fast and is so smart- she absorbs EVERYTHING!

The Oklahoma Piedmonts are doing well- Otto/mike is traveling alot which is frustrating since we are technically on shore tour but that is the life in the navy. The kids are full and energy and personality which is fun (and exhausting). All in all no complaints!

A Military Child's Prayer

I have been pretty bad about keeping up with the blog and even worse of using it for my original purpose of trying to capture and document all the cute moments (or at least some of them) of my kids. I know most of you only visit for the pictures so I am hesitant to post when I am at work and all you will receive are my words instead of the pics of the most precious kids on the planet. But I determined to get better at documenting these moments as I know one day I will miss them so here it goes.

The other night Ellie and I were saying her prayers- she usually fights saying her prayers as it is associated with going to bed and she fights anything associated with going to sleep. Mike had just left to go out of town again so it was just me and the kiddos. After saying our prayer and mommy saying what she prayed for Ellie simply said "Dear God, I pray that my daddy does not have to leave again" oh sweet child if it was only that easy- she has continued to pray the same prayer every night- breaks your hear but as one friend pointed out it also makes me so happy that I married such a wonderful husband and father that his kids miss him so much while he is gone and treasure the moments he is home.

ok- that is it for now- I know I had another cute thing to write about but I have forgotten- see why it is so important for me to start documenting this stuff!

Welcome Family and Friends!

With addition of our precious angel, I figured it was time to start a blog so that everyone could be blessed with updates on her many developments and pictures of our adorable baby. All this plus my witty insights - who could ask for anything more from a blog. Enjoy!
