It only took 7 months

Just like my blogging I have neglected Ellie's nursery as well. I finally got her wall letters in this week and they were well worth the wait because they are adorable. Slowly but surely the nursery is coming together and becoming a room fit for a princess- which she is.

I also just posted some random pics because I thought she looked so adorable in her headband. I could not get her smile because the flash kept going off and blinding her and so she just kept that deer in the headlights look. but she is still precious. She is now standing flat footed in her exersaucer and jumping like a maniac in her jumper. It is so incredible to think that just back in december she was suspended in mid air and I thought it would be a long time before her feet touched the ground. We are trying to enjoy every minute because it time is just going so fast!!!

Can I get an Amen!

Great news! Otto/Mike has been transferred early so (hopefully) this March deployment will be his last for awhile. I am so freaking excited I could burst. We were not supposed to be done with deployments until August which meant Otto/Mike would be leaving another 2 to 3 times but with the recent developments he will be home all summer. I can not even imagine how liberating it will feel to be able to plan vacations and not have to worry whether I will end up traveling by myself with Ellie because Otto/Mike suddenly had to deploy. I feel this huge weight off of my shoulders. The idea of being a family every day of every week has just been so unfathomable to me- it is a place us navy wives do not let ourselves dream about because it is just to depressing. It seems easier to just assume he will be away because the constant disappointment and frustration the military can bring is just too much to bear! But I now feel like I breath a sigh of relief and know that Otto/Mike will be home (knock of wood)- for all the birthdays, holidays and special moments/ milestones in our little angel's life. I am so overwhelmed. And I want to give a special shout out to all my military friends (especially the wives) as I know how hard it can be to stay strong and I admire you all- and remember now that Otto/Mike is home we have a free babysitter even if your husband is deployed so when you need a girl's night out just let me know as I know he would love to watch the kids!!!!

Bottles, Bedhead, Bows & Bathtime

Ellie is just getting bigger and bigger- at least to us anyways. She is finally in 3-6 month clothes and is rolling all over the place. I am afraid crawling is just around the corner which means babyproofing is really something I should start doing but I am putting it off as long as possible. She sleeps great (even if I do wish it was a little later). As you can see by the pic below, she still has tons of hair and I think it is here to stay. I am already trying to tame it as she can wake up with some crazy bedhead. She wears bows everyday as my friend advised me that daycares pay more attention to the babies with bows! So no matter ellie will always have a bow in her hair. Bathtime is still her favorite time of the day (and ours as well). Mike has desperately been trying to teach her baby sign language and I know that the day she signs back will stand out as one of his proudest moments. I just hope it happens sooner than later and not while he is on the road! I mean we all know ELlie is "advanced" so I am sure she will be signing in no time. Ok, this post was filled with random facts about Ellie and now I will give you some random pictures. Hope you enjoy her cuteness as much as I do.

Nice hair Ellie! She sleeps hard.
Learning to drink from a sippy cup. The cup is bigger than her but she is getting the hang of it.

These pics got out of order- here she is falling over- HELP.

Chewing on her dress- what a little lady.

Sitting up so cute- as you can see from the pics above she has not quite mastered sitting up completely but I just don't think she has enough weight in her tushy to keep herself up.

SO CUTE!

First Piedmont Family Road Trip

Hey All
Again sorry for the delay in posting but it has been busy at the Piedmont household. We took our first of many family road trips. My best friend Lindsay is expecting Baby Caroline
this May so we loaded up the little one and drove to Birmingham for her baby shower. It was a 10 hour trip but Ellie did phenomenal once again proving to me that she is the best baby anyone could ever ask for. It was so great to see all my friends and my wonderful husband totally took over the mr mom role so that I could spend as much time with my girls as possible. Many of my friends have babies around the same age or older than Ellie and it was such a joy to see them all together and interacting. Ellie was by far the tiniest but each baby was absolutely adorable which I am not suprised by since my friends are all beautiful. This is such an exciting time to see us all with little girls of our own and I just wished I lived closer to them- some day! Enjoy all the pics- they got out of order but I was so tired with trying to fool with blogger that I gave up.

Lindsay did not have Ellie's baby bathtub so we had to bathe her in the sink. Her little hieny kept sliding on the stainless steel but she did not seem to mind. I love how she has no concept of the fact that she is naked in public and why should she care since she has the cutest tush ever!
We decided Ellie was big enough that she did not need a car seat anymore- yeah right! This was during one of our leg stretch breaks.

Daddy and Ellie driving- watch out world!

Sweet baby- she was such a good passenger. I became very very inventive on how to keep her entertained but she did so well. Picture it- Mike and I singing nursery rhymes at the top of our lungs for about 2 hours straight. Good times.

My best friend April's precious baby Vivian. She obviously partied too hard at the shower. Just kidding- she was such a good girl who fell asleep in her seat in the middle of all the action. She is 9 months old about about double Ellie's size- she looks likes a little cherub and is absolutely adorable.

My friend Alison's little girl Madeline- she is 18 months and on the small side like Ellie. It was so cute to see them interacting as it looks like they are having deep conversations. I can not wait to see how they all grow up together.

This is what I imagine ELlie is saying- Tell me all abou it sister- dirty diapers are the pits.

I had to put one pick of ELlie in her party dress. She is so unbelievably adorable and I love that spring is here and I can put her in dresses!! Poor mike- hope he has been saving up. but look how cute she is- how can i resist.

Happy Valentines and Happy Birthday to Lucy and Kacee

Happy Valentines
We had a great valentines here in OK- mike got to be home which was exciting and although we did not do much it was so fun to all be together. I have to send a happy birthday to my good friends Chrissy and Seth's little girl Lucy who turned 1 on Valentines. I can not believe she is already 1 year old and I know her and Ellie will be great friends despite the fact she is an LSU fan- WAR EAGLE!!! Also, happy birthday to my friend Kacee- we miss yall while you are in RI and hope you are back in OK soon so Ellie and Chase can start their courtship - ha ha.

Below are some picks of my valentines- Mike and Ellie. They are the best things that every happened to me and I am love them both more and more each day- I don't need a national holiday to celebrate that. I hope that everyone who reads our blog knows how much we love them and miss them- just thought it was appropriate to say on the day when you are supposed to tell those you love how much they mean to you. We miss you all.

Daddy and his little snow bunny.

She already has him wrapped around her finger.

Look at that heart on her butt- adorable

Yes I will be your valentine- how could you not!!!

My valentines- I am one lucky girl

Ellie is 6 months- and I have so much to post

Hey All
Sorry for the delay in posting ( I seem to be sayig this alot). Otto/Mike got home and my best friend lindsay came to visit so we have been having tons of fun to oklahoma which led to me neglecting the blog.

Ellie had her 6 month check up- I am still in disbelief that she is already 6 months. Everyone kept saying that time would fly but those first sleepless months I did not really believe them. But it seems as soon as she started smiling, laughing and sleeping time has really flown. I enjoy every minute with her and it seems each day she is cuter than the one before. Anyways, our future heavyweight of a daugther is 11 pounds 12 ounces and 24 1/4 inches. Some babies are this big at their 2 week checkup. People constantly tell me how alert she is but I think it is because they think she is only 3 months- just today someone asked if she was 3 months and although she maybe in 0-3 month clothes she is indeed 6 months. The dr assured me she is as healthy as can be- just tiny- and I am firm believer that good things come in small pacakages because I could not imagine ellie being anymore perfect. She is rolling everywhere and starting to show signs of crawling which means I should start childproofing but I am not excited about this at all- ugh. As you can see from the pics below ellie can stand with support (mike's trick) and she looks so funny since she is so tiny - enjoy.

I mentioned that my best friend lindsay came to visit. It was the best visit- linds is due in May with a little girl baby of her own which is perfect because I am pretty sure linds came out of the womb wearing pink and fur! she is going to be a wonderful mom and I am so happy that Ellie will get to have her little girl to become friends with. We can not wait to meet Caroline Claire Draney.

Below are a ton of picks. I posted extra to make up for my lack of posts.

She loves to be tickled. and look at that wild hair- daddy must have been in charge of brushing!

Standing so tall- ha ha- look at the look of fear on her face- again daddy in charge.

adorable- both of them- she loves her daddy.

linds, ellie and amy.

Ellie loves her aunt lindsay!!! and can not wait to be best friends with baby draney

she loves tummy time.

what a cutie

Hey all- not much to report here but this picture was too cute not to post- hope it starts your week off right since most mondays are no fun. Ellie and I (and Brimley) are counting down til mike gets home- only 2 more days. I dressed Ellie in her first bow today- she looked even more adorable and look at those eyes- amazing. I am still shocked at how petite and perfect our little baby is- who knew me and otto/mike had it in us to produce such a beautiful little (and I do mean little) girl. Daddy is going to be so amazed at how much she has changed in just 2 short weeks! So here is the first of many bow pictures to come because we all know how obsessed I am with hair. Enjoy.

I love hair bows- especially pink ones.

Welcome Family and Friends!

With addition of our precious angel, I figured it was time to start a blog so that everyone could be blessed with updates on her many developments and pictures of our adorable baby. All this plus my witty insights - who could ask for anything more from a blog. Enjoy!
